Man I’m slack at keeping a blog.

So, our first Auckland gig went really well after some initial technical problems and general stressing out. 20 mins of the set aired on National Radio today (after a fair amount of tweaking from national’s sound engineer…). Anyway, the Kings Arms was fairly full by the time we played - we got around 350 people through the door - which was a relief after the disappointment of Hamilton. I didn’t see Teenwolf and Pie Warmer this time, but they sounded good through the floor of our band room, no less.

The next weekend we were off to Palmerston North and Wellington. Having experienced many hire vans before we were pretty amazed with the one we got. A brand new Ford Transit, tinted windows, and enough seats for us to all have a spare seat next to us.When we rolled into PN it suddenly dawned on us that there was a possibility no one knew about the gig, and no one would come along. When we walked into the venue our fears were fueled further. We were playing in a bar that had been open a matter of weeks, had no furniture, and not one of our posters in the window. Bar Mode is the new project of Tane (from Bodega in Wellington), who greeted us in his usual jolly fashion.

But, come evening our fears proved unfounded, we managed to pull in 120 or so people into the huge room, giving us a good feeling to drive to Wellington on. Oh, and we played well too.

We arrived in Wellington at 5am, after driving directly from the gig at PN. We crashed at probably one of the choicest houses in the whole city. Above Oriental Bay, right at the top of Mt Vic. Awesome views of the whole harbour and the city.

The next evening we played at Bar Bodega, and Wellington pretty much threw us a party…

Wellingtonians like to party pretty hard. I spotted an old friend crowd surfing while we were playing…

We celebrated the gig by heading to the Blue Note Bar for a bit of Karaoke afterwards. I forgot how much I love it. Pretty much the best thing to do when you’re drunk. In a couple weeks we’re off to Dunedin and CHCH. Yay.
